Optimism is the faith that leads to achievement. Nothing can be done without hope and confidence

Self Worth

Ones sense of their own value and worth as a person can impact so many different areas of life.  In todays world, it is near impossible not to compare ourselves to other people. As humans, we also tend to be harder on ourselves than others which influences self- worth and self- esteem. External experiences, such as how someone may have treated us or how we grew up can also greatly impact how we view our worth. This critical inner voice can tell us lies about ourself and make us believe stories about ourselves that are not true. This can make us think and do things we are not proud of which can feed the cycle of a lower self- worth.

Challenging this inner critic and building a new voice that empowers us can change our thinking and behaviours in massive ways. As your therapist, I am here to be the referee between you and your critical voice that stops you from being the person you want to feel and act like. We may explore where this voice comes from, what feeds it, and what it needs to work with you and not against you. Developing your sense of yourself as a worthwhile person can be one of the single most impacting ways to improve your life and align with what is most important to you. Developing self- worth is not an overnight job, yet with help, compassion, time, and tools, we can build our sense of personal authentic worthiness.

How I work

I take a anti oppressive, non- judgemental, client focused approach to therapy. When working with self- worth, I use a combination of compassion focused therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), internal family systems (IFS), and somatic experiencing. These therapies are evidence-based and have been shown to be effective in improving relationships. I tend to use a combination of these approaches and tailor my approach to individualized needs of the client
