Anxiety is a familiar emotion because it is a part of the human experience. Although it is a natural function that can alert people to potential threats, it can also lead to intense stress, burnout, poor mental health, and negative behaviours that do not serve us. Today’s culture pushes people to work harder, stay informed, and strive to be the best, which can fuel anxiety and make it harder for us to “turn off” and relax.

My goal as your therapist is to help you better understand your own anxiety, learn to regulate your body, and be provided with personalized tools that can help you feel calmer. As someone who was diagnosed with generalized anxiety from a young age, I know first- hand how anxiety can impact so many different areas of life.  The good news is that our nervous systems can change and I love working with clients to replace anxiety with calm that leads you to a place that is further aligned with your values and what is most important to you.

  • Identifying your triggers and possible underlying reasons for anxiety

  • Exploring your nervous system and how it responds to stress

  • Helping to reduce ruminations (repetative thinking) of things that make you anxious

  • Helping to calm the body in times of stress and anxiety

  • Processing trauma and difficult life experiences

  • Preparing for life events that make you anxious

  • Generalized anxiety, stress and burnout, obsessive compulsive disorder, phobias, and panic attacks. 

How I work

I take a anti oppressive, non- judgemental, client focused approach to therapy. The therapeutic modalities I work from include Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness somatic experiencing, cognitive behavioural therapy, and internal family systems (IFS). These therapies are evidence-based and have been shown to be effective in treating anxiety. With my online therapy for anxiety, I use a combination of these approaches and tailor my approach to individualized needs of the client. Subsequently, my clients can make lasting life changes that move from a place of anxiety to a sense of peace and calm.
